It's the end of school holidays, so tidy the house and enjoy it being tidy and neat for a few hours of the day (!) and treat yourself to some gorgeous flowers. We're very excited - we have a couple of new flower suppliers who specialise in locally grown flowers - so this week we have the most FANTASTIC selection. For all of you who have asked over the years - we have finally found a supplier for Adelaide Hills Daisy!!! I'd never noticed before that it has a beautiful honey-like scent - and of course it will last for weeks. Very exciting! We also have some spectacular dahlias - dahlias don't travel well so we need good local suppliers - and these are fantastic. Some unusual colours and shapes which is what we like to see. Excellent native's and proteas too, leucodendrons, statice is particularly bright and lovely...... lots of tropical leaves look lovely with these.
Asiatic lilies are in a fantastic colour range this week - and are lovely and strong and tight. Roses too are particularly good - colours to die for.
Of course we have all our usual favourites, bouvardia, celosia, orchids, mollaca balm, lisianthus, pineapple lilies, mini pineapple, bulrushes.......... the list goes on. Spoil yourself!

I can't believe I forgot to bring my camera in today - we have masses of new artificials - all unpacked and looking stunning - but I can't post photos without the camera - keep an eye out during the week for photos of these.

Remind your significant other about Valentine's Day - only a couple of weeks away now. Get in as early as you can with deliveries - our couriers inform us that Valentine's Day deliveries must be booked by midday Monday 13th - after that we can only do local deliveries after 5pm on the day. So get in early!

Have a great week all - stay tuned for photos - enjoy the cooler weather. See you soon!

Monday 23 January 2012

It's a stinking hot day out there and our week of summer weather to come is a great excuse to stay indoors in the cool! Keep your home feeling cool and fresh with some gorgeous flowers - there's so many good things to choose from this week. If your home is a little on the warm side, aim for lots of tropical leaves, pineapple lilies, mini pineapples, orchids, rudbekia, and lovely lilies. Hydrangea, tuberoses (fill the room with their gorgeous scent!), roses, delphinium and aster's are the pick of the 'pretties' this week. Bouvardia and tuberoses make a room smell heavenly, so enjoy them while they're around and you're inside to watch and enjoy their scent.

Remember Valentine's Day is not too far away now - start leaving little hints for your loved one! As always we'll have a gorgeous range of flowers - elite lilies should be especially good by Valentines day, and chillies and feather celosia should be arriving that week. We'll of course have red roses, but why be boring - there are so many other fantastic roses and blooms out there! Get in as early as you can with deliveries - our couriers inform us that Valentine's Day deliveries must be booked by midday Monday 13th - after that we can only do local deliveries after 5pm on the day. So get in early!

Masses of new artificials are sitting in their boxes waiting to be unpacked - some of the more unusual blooms in there - will post photos, but to quickly run through them we have sunflowers (both green and yellow), a fantastic new 'water' range that are designed specificially to sit in water alongside fresh flowers (snapdragons, lupins and ranunculi), new orchids (both cymbidium and phaelonopsis), hedera branches, foxtail grass, crystal bamboo, astrantias, chinese lanterns, red dahlia's, magnolias, stocks and some fantastic hanging succulents.
More birds and butterfly's too in this batch, with new small birds arriving early next week - some cute bumblebees in there also!

Keep cool this week - see you all soon and a Happy Australia Day - enjoy celebrating the best country in the world to live in!

Monday 16 January 2012

It's Tour Down Under week so get excited and join Stirling and Aldgate in watching the bikes fly past on Wednesday at amazing speeds. For the first time it won't be super hot so it should be fantastic!

Some of our favourite fresh flowers are back this week - the singapore orchids are looking fantastic and we have some unusual pink varieties with curly petals which are particularly lovely. Team them with some tropical leaves to look spectacular - and last for ages.
Some of the more unusual blooms this week: Rudbeckia, Bulrushes, Lysimachia, Kale (very early this year), some funky coloured Dahlias, lovely bouvardia (beautiful pink especially) and some more of the lovely spotty Oriental lilies. More lily varieties and roses due in mid-week, but we've got some great bunches of the equador roses to start the week with.
Something for everybody!

Our wholesalers are starting to kick into gear for the year, and our first new batch of artificials should arrive end of the week. Some unusual finds in that batch - will post more as they arrive. New birdies and butterfly's are on order too, and new cards and books are starting to trickle in.
We have a few half-priced Christmas items left - dragonfly and star lights and advent calendars to name a couple of things - but there's a few oddments to put aside for next year.

Have a great week all - see you soon - enjoy the bikes!

Welcome back - Happy New Year! We hope you had a fantastic Christmas break and that you got some happy times, some great food, friends and family, and all of you who bought flowers for your Christmas celebrations - we hope they brightened your home and Christmas table. We enjoyed two weeks of spending time with the family, pottering in the garden and hitting the shops for some retail therapy. Sale time is always interesting! So now we're back with renewed vigour, with some interesting plans for the coming year, and after taking down the remaining Christmas trees yesterday - unpacking the boxes to fill the gaps!

As all the growers kick back into gear, some of our summer favourites are in this week. Lilies in a few different varieties and colours this week - some of those lovely spotty orientals. Not many asiatics around yet - will wait as the week continues to see what some of the local growers have. Orchids also aren't due to arrive until late in the week or next week - but there's lots of pretty blooms to brighten someone's day. Lisianthus are especially good while this cooler weather lasts (the hot weather tends to rot their petals) and dahlias have started. Asters in a wide range of colours, and some great leaves and bulrushes. Hydrangeas of course look spectacular too.
We met with a new local grower of carnations lastnight - carnations are enjoying a re-vamp and some of the new hybrid colours are really lovely - beautiful for wedding work too. Will be interesting to see them as they come about.

So that's all for this week and the first blog of the year - will keep you posted as to new items as they come in, and as all our wholesalers get back into it for the year! See you soon!

Hope to see you all soon!
